Teen 2 Teen (“we”, “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect and how we use it, in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Data we collect

  • Chat messages, nicknames, and dates of birth shared for a session.
  • Staff account email and role (listener, mentor or T2T Official) when an official creates access for team members.
  • Safety metadata such as timestamps, connection information and any reports raised.

Lawful basis

We process personal data on the basis of your consent, our legitimate interests in running a safeguarded service, and to comply with our legal obligations.

Data retention

Chat transcripts are retained only as long as is necessary for safeguarding, auditing and service improvement, and are then deleted or anonymised.

Terms of use

Teen 2 Teen is a peer listening service, not an emergency, medical or therapy service. If you are in immediate danger, please call 999.

  • Be kind. Harassment, hate speech and abusive behaviour are not tolerated.
  • Do not share personal identifying information during a chat.
  • Listeners must respect the training programme’s boundaries and escalation policy.
  • We may suspend accounts or end chats that breach these terms.

Reporting illegal content (DSA)

Under the EU Digital Services Act and equivalent UK online safety expectations, you may report illegal or harmful content to our team. You can use the in-chat flag button or contact us directly:

We acknowledge reports within 72 hours and triage them in line with our safeguarding policy.
